Simple Elegance

These Tang Horses are absolutely something that I want at my house.  They are usually in either ochre colour or green.  I have to say that I have not often seen them in the black and the patina of these ones is especially beautiful.

Those celadon ceramic bowls again !

Old Japanese cast iron teapots.

Also managed to get a few old Japanese parasols.  There is something about these that is very special.  I think it is the construction in general - simple beauty.

Hand painted Mongolian sideboard.  The painting on this piece and the muted colours are particularly beautiful.  The glass jars on top are vintage Japanese tea jars.  We have them in 2 sizes.

One Small Section at a Time

This is just one view of the store at the moment... all the beautiful honey tones and the antique Chinese herb cabinet is such a stunning shade of red.

Antique Japanese merchants cabinet - love the Japanese hardware and the rusty old cast iron fish.

I was very happy when i found this old Japanese suitcase, it is in great condition - even the inside is pretty special.

Now you can see the amazing old Japanese tea chests we found.  I was excited about finding these as I have not seen a true tea chest since I was a little girl.  They are both lined with tin and how about the labels on the side.  There is too much in this recent shopping trip that I wish could come home with me.

See what I mean about those beautiful honey tones.  This is one of my favourite parts of the shop right now, especially at this time of day.

These are a few of my favourite things .....

Couldn't wait to post a few more things.  Here is one of the Chinese antique pieces that came in.  I really love the raw simplicity and the three wafer thin celadon bowls on top are another one of my favourite things.

An assortment of old Chinese calligraphy brushes - bone, jade, carnelian and other semi precious gemstones.

Where Have We Been ?

We have been off sourcing new stock for the store.  I think once you see what we have all will be forgiven.  We have some beautiful new additions ...  more French and Chinese antiques, some very quirky art pieces and finally antique Japanese cabinets and kimono chests we have been longing to have in here.

This piece is truly unique, from France and I am totally in love with it.  Actually, I am in love with all of the new stock.  We have taken more photos and will be adding them to the blog in the coming week, so stay tuned I will be back very soon - promise.

ES Traders on a dark rainy day

How about this rain? It's raining cats and dogs and kittens and puppies! The up side though is that ES Traders looks its most magical when the days are gloomy and dark. Like a fairy land. These photos are taken from our storage mezzanine. A totally different look at the shop.

Antique metal gates

Those of you who have visited the store will have seen our beautiful antique Egyptian metal gates at the front of the store. You may not have noticed our equally stunning antique panels and gates at the back of the store. You can dream of ways to incorporate these in your garden walls and courtyards or they are perfect as works of art decorating your walls. Truly unique pieces.
