Brilliant Idea

I can't tell you how much I dislike the new light globes.  Politically incorrect, i know, but I am just telling it like it is.  The cold glaring light is just too much to bear.  I have been a light globe collector for a while now and have some very beautiful old globes.  They are so fine and delicate like a bubble with an even more delicate world inside. They remind me of the old snow globes.

Anyway it has taken me months and months to track down old fashioned filament globes that are suitable for Australia.  They are here and have been warmly welcomed.  There are 2 different shapes.
This one is the Quad Loop - available in both ES & BC fittings - 40watt & 60 watt.

Then there is this shape - like an old fashioned radio valve.  Also available in ES, BC
and 40 & 60 watt.

if you require any further information.

More of the cabinets

I have to say I so love a bit of tribal jewellery.
White metals, old coins, giant rings...
the look and even the sound they make.

See the amazing jug this necklace is draped on?  It is a piece that
has been salvaged from a shipwreck off Indonesia.  This particular piece
is dated around 950 AD.  It is just one of a few pieces we managed to
get for the shop.

Another tribal piece - this time in an antique gold finish.

These rings are all adjustable so you don't have to worry about sizes - one
size fits all.

This ring weighs in at about 50cm.  I love big rings on other people, but
have to say it surprised me how much i love it on me.  Definitely one of my
favourites.

This gypsy bracelet is sitting amongst good company.  The leathery looking
ceramic bowl is another ancient salvaged piece.  The red tikka boxes are old
and no two are alike.  Then of course there is one of Stuart's frames
behind.  Handcrafted and gilded in white gold.

More jewellery, this time handmade and a total one of a kind.
The bowl ...  another salvaged piece.
This bowl and the jug at the beginning are the ones I would
love to take home.

The Jewellery Cabinets

Just to whet your appetite...  baubles, bangles and beads.
So whimsical.  So boho chic.  So timeless and elegant.

Crosses embellished with glass beads and silk.  Israeli designer Ayala Bar -  I have loved her designs forever.  I got a small range into the store to see if you all approved.  I am happy to say that it has been a big success and there is more on it's way very soon.  I will keep you posted.

Simple metals, glass beads, silks, mineral stones and crystal rhinestones are used to create intricate patterns with a style that is hard to define, but created for beauty.

Baboushka Doll Pendants

Glass bead and crystal earrings.

Inspired jewellery from Israel, Afghani tribal pieces and India.
Stay tuned more to follow.

By the way did you notice the vintage Japanese notebooks?  These were a real find and even better a lovely Japanese lady told me that they are from the 1930's and are handwritten note books from a Sake factory.
Also, the amazing hand drawn plans.  They are from the 1930's too, done by a French engineering company.  (These are for sale)

Simple Elegance

Tang Horses.   They are usually in either ochre colour or green.  I have to say that I have not often seen them in the black and the patina of these ones is especially beautiful.

Old Japanese cast iron teapots.

Also managed to get a few old Japanese parasols.  There is something about these that is very special.  I think it is the construction in general - simple beauty.

Hand painted Mongolian sideboard.  The painting on this piece and the muted colours are particularly beautiful.  The glass jars on top are vintage Japanese tea jars.  I have them in 2 sizes.

One Small Section at a Time

This is just one view of the store at the moment... all the beautiful honey tones and the antique Chinese herb cabinet is such a stunning shade of red.

Antique Japanese merchants cabinet - love the Japanese hardware and the rusty old cast iron fish.

I was very happy when I found this old Japanese suitcase, it is in great condition - even the inside is pretty special.

Now you can see the amazing old Japanese tea chests.  I was excited about finding these as I have not seen a true tea chest since I was a child.  They are both lined with tin and how about the labels on the side.

These are a few of my favourite things .....

Couldn't wait to post a few more things.  Here is one of the Chinese antique pieces that came in.  I really love the raw simplicity and the three wafer thin celadon bowls on top are another one of my favourite things.

An assortment of old Chinese calligraphy brushes - bone, jade, carnelian and other semi precious gemstones.
